Kate Clapp | 2019 Michigan Quarter Horse Association Queen

Kate Clapp is the 2019 Michigan Quarter Horse Association Queen and was crowned at the MQHA Easter EggStravanganza in April.

Growing up in a suburb of Detroit, she experienced the best of both worlds- going to the barn, riding horses and playing with livestock, all while getting to come home to the city.

She attended the University of Detroit Mercy in an accelerated business program. Kate graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance in December 2015, as well as a Master in Business Administration in May 2017. After graduation, Kate was hired at Daimler North America Corporation (Mercedes-Benz) as a Liquidity Management Analyst in their Treasury Department, where she has been now for two years.

Throughout her childhood, Kate showed all sorts of animals in 4-H and open shows, from cows to rabbits- however horses were always her priority. When she graduated high school, she made it her goal to show on the AQHA level. This goal came to fruition and Kate has now competed successfully nationally- earning year-end awards with MQHA, achieving top placings at the Congress and the NSBA World Show, as well as becoming Champion and Reserve Champions at the AQHA Novice Championship Show.

In 2017, Kate was the Ohio Michigan Indiana Quarter Horse Association Queen. She knew her road to Congress Queen was not over, and now has the privilege of represent her home association as their Queen at the Congress this year.
